Welcome to the Rouhanifard Lab!
Genetic information is expressed differently in individual cells. These spatial and quantitative differences can have a profound impact on cellular function. We focus on developing chemical approaches to track and quantify important processing events and nucleic acid modifications in single cells. Topics of interest include 1. DNA:protein interactions that drive differences in RNA expression; 2. Understanding differences in RNA expression and the impacts that they have on disease and development. We aim to apply these insights towards the development of clinical diagnostics and the development of research tools.
Our lab uses chemical, biological and computational approaches to address both fundamental and applied questions in biology and medicine.
We aim to foster an interdisciplinary and translational research environment in which biologists, chemists, and engineers can work together to solve exciting problems.
